The Marketing Victim is a marketing blog that attempts to answer these big questions, from my perspective as a professional marketer and impulsive online shopper. To say that I love online shopping is an understatement. I buy almost everything online, even groceries. I want to understand why I choose one ecommerce company over the other, what I value as a consumer, and what I expect out of a brand I choose to give my unwavering loyalty to.
Most of my articles will cover startups, direct-to-consumer companies, and small ecommerce brands, because not enough people write about them. I’ll be dissecting my experiences as a marketer and consumer to figure out what exactly makes me hand over my money.
By analyzing my own customer journey, I hope to:
- Figure out how marketing influences my tastes and preferences
- Understand what marketing tactics work on me, and use this knowledge to improve my work and my spending habits
- Promote the direct-to-consumer startups and small ecommerice brands I love
- Start conversations about my favorite brands, marketing, and consumer behavior
Who is the Marketing Victim?
The Marketing Victim is run and largely written by me, Lauren Dado. I am a content strategist and digital marketer living and working in Singapore. I’ve been a professional writer since 2007 and spent over 6 years helping e-commerce companies, startups, and agency clients meet business goals through content marketing and SEO.
This site may be new, but I’ve been blogging for over 2/3rds of my life. My very first blog went live in December 1996, which actually makes me the first blogger in the Philippines. For this, WikiPilipinas recognized me as WikiPinoy of the Year (People & Society) in 2007.
Outside of work, I’m a product junkie who enjoys admiring beautifully-designed things from the comfort of home. When I’m not shopping or reading in bed, I’m doing yoga, traveling, or having brunch.
